GP, Arwystli Medical Practice, Powys
David has been a general practitioner for nearly 12 years in various roles across England and Wales. He has been a partner in his current practice since 2014 and has been actively involved in diabetes care ever since.
In 2014 David started his Post-graduate diploma in diabetes at the University of South Wales and passed with Merit in 2015.
Since then he has strived to push the diabetes agenda forwards in his local health board and sits as the GP representative on the Delivery and Planning group.
In this role David hopes to establish a local peer support network for professionals interested in diabetes. The rural nature of Mid Wales means many healthcare professionals work in isolation and often without the ability to share knowledge and experience.
Learning from the experiences of others, David also wants to set up a multidisciplinary diabetes service pilot in the county to bring together, screening, specialist nursing, podiatry and prescribing support so people with diabetes can access specialist services closer to home.
