Aims
To enhance skills and confidence in implementing and providing diabetes self-management education for children, young people or adults.
Venue
Arranged locally by workshop commissioners.
Length structure
This is a 2 or 3-day course, days separated by several weeks to allow for implementation of action plans developed on each day and completion of team coursework.
Cost to student
£3,000 + VAT (3-day course). Includes facilitator expenses and planning, preparation and delivery of a course for up to 24 participants from children, young people or adult diabetes teams. Can be commissioned for a single team (2-day course) or, ideally, members of several local, regional or network teams (3-day course).
Type of study
Face to face course days, with team coursework in between. Supporting resources provided for preparation and team coursework, including a workshop website and, a copy per team of the handbooks ‘Group Education and Facilitation Skills in Healthcare Settings’ and ‘Providing Structured Diabetes Education for Children and Young People’.

Health professionals and other staff involved in organising and providing diabetes self-management education for children, young people or adults.
Places available
20 per workshop.
How achievement is assessed
Evaluation on the day of the workshop processes and learning outcomes. Success in achieving personal action plans created as part of the course days, and completing team coursework.
