Lasting Legacy Celebration
Wednesday 15 October 2025, 6pm - 7:30pm

On the evening, you’ll meet some of the faces behind our life-changing research and support that you’re helping to drive forward, thanks, in large part, to gifts in Wills.

You'll hear from our very own CEO and host, Colette Marshall, as she shares some of the exciting progress we've made, our strategy, and future plans - and what this means for people living with and affected by diabetes.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Colin Dayan, Cardiff University, Diabetes UK Researcher
Latest update from Diabetes UK funded research into immunotherapies. He’ll explain how immunotherapies retrain the immune system to inhibit the type 1 immune attack, which could help delay, prevent, or even cure type 1, and tell us about the different immunotherapies we’re testing right now.
  • Francesca Rattee, Helpline Team Leader, Diabetes UK
Francesca will share her experience on the Helpline and how gifts like yours are helping to fund this crucial service for people affected by all types of diabetes who are struggling to get the help they need.

Special guest speakers:

  • Tracy, Diabetes Research Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) volunteer
Explaining involvement in Diabetes UK-funded research that will track, monitor and support everyone in the UK who has type 1 autoantibodies, and offer people in the early stages of type 1 access to immunotherapy treatments designed to slow its full development.
  • Charles and Nic, Diabetes UK supporters and friends
Sharing their experiences of living with type 1 diabetes, the impact on the whole family and why their mum, Penny, decided to leave a gift in her Will to Diabetes UK.

It’s always a friendly, moving and inspiring evening – and a wonderful opportunity for you to come together with a dynamic group of supporters intent on transforming lives.
