Lasting Legacy Celebration
Wednesday, 14 October 2026, 6pm to 7:30pm

Join us for this virtual event on Zoom, which brings together our wonderful supporters for a warm and uplifting evening. It’s also a chance for us to say a heartfelt thank you and to share the difference your support is helping to make.

We’ll share some of the incredible work made possible by gifts like yours, as well as looking ahead to what the future could hold for people living with diabetes.

Gifts in Wills raise over 40% of our voluntary donations each year, helping to fund pioneering diabetes research, life-changing advice and support for thousands of people affected by diabetes.

During the evening, you’ll hear from some of the people at the heart of this work.

The event will be hosted by our CEO, Colette Marshall, who will reflect on the progress we’ve made, as well as our plans and ambitions for the years ahead.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Aileen King, Diabetes UK Researcher, King’s College London, will give insight into the pioneering research you’re helping to fund, exploring how insulin-producing beta cells respond differently to stress in women and men, and what this could mean for future type 1 and type 2 diabetes treatments.
  • Adam Mayze, Diabetes UK Youth Coordinator and one of our inspiring Young Leaders, who will talk about the Young Leaders programme, personal experiences of living with diabetes, and the impact of the Young Leaders Programme and young people we support.
  • Abdul Rais, Diabetes UK Community Champion, will share his personal journey of living with type 2 diabetes, the inspiration behind his volunteering, and how he's helping to raise awareness and support local communities affected by diabetes.

We’re also honoured to be joined by an inspirational speaker, who will share their story and connection to Diabetes UK.

It’s always a friendly, moving and inspiring evening – and a wonderful opportunity for you to come together with a dynamic group of supporters intent on transforming lives.
