An awareness event is planned for Waltham Forest to help people in the borough who live with type 2 diabetes.
The ‘Living with Diabetes Day’ will take place on Tuesday, 14 November, at Leyton Orient Football Ground, Brisbane Road, (E10 5NF) and will run from 9am - 4.10pm.
The day has been organised by the South East Coast and London team at Diabetes UK to mark World Diabetes Day.
The free, one-day event will include talks and workshops led by local experts on key topics ranging from footcare to food and more.
Anyone who attends will be able to find out more about diabetes care and support, the work of Diabetes UK and how it can help people. There will be guidance on the services offered by local organisations in the borough and attendees will have the chance to put their questions to local healthcare teams.
People with type 2 diabetes don’t produce enough insulin or the insulin they produce doesn’t work properly (known as insulin resistance). Around 90 per cent of people with diabetes have type 2. There are some things that increase your risk of type 2 diabetes.
