Update – 20th February:

Abbott have informed us that they’ve now resolved the delays on fulfilling FreeStyle Libre sensor pharmacy orders.

Update - 6th February:

We’ve heard back from Abbott who have reassured us that order delays have been reduced substantially, and that pharmacists should now receive orders approximately one week after placing them.

Abbott have said they are working hard to fulfil all orders, and to get back to typical shipping times in the coming weeks.

Original article:

The manufacturer of the FreeStyle Libre device, which checks blood sugar levels with Flash Glucose Monitoring technology, are currently experiencing order delays of up to two to three weeks.

Statement from Abbott:

“We are currently experiencing temporary delays in fulfilling orders of FreeStyle Libre sensors to some pharmacies in the UK. The delay may be up to two to three weeks from date of order. We are doing all we can to expedite shipments in an effort to minimise any interruptions and are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.”

Natasha Marsland, Senior Clinical Advisor at Diabetes UK, said:

“We understand that there are currently delays in fulfilling orders of FreeStyle Libre sensors to some pharmacies in the UK.

While this is ongoing, we recommend people monitor their blood glucose levels using their usual blood monitoring kit and test strips, until the situation is resolved.

We are in touch with Abbott and we will provide updates as the situation develops.”
