Comedian and former King of the Jungle Joe Pasquale took to the skies over Kent and jumped 14,000 feet out of a plane in aid of Diabetes UK.
Joe made the jump at Headcorn Aerodrome yesterday (13 October) with his daughter Tina, 21, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes ten years ago. Joe hopes their first jump together will help raise awareness of diabetes which affects 4.5 million people in the UK.
Joe, from Higham, said: "It was my daughter's idea. She said we could either have our heads shaved for Diabetes UK or jump out of a plane. I'm far too vain to shave my head so I said I'd rather skydive than go bald. I'm so pleased we've both done it and we'd like to thank everyone who sponsored us for such a great cause."
Joe is a longtime supporter of Diabetes UK, with his fundraising efforts including running the London Marathon and climbing up the O2. So far, Joe’s sky diving heroics has raised nearly £1000 for the charity.
Natasha Evans, Fundraising Events Manager at Diabetes UK, said: “Joe is such an inspiration. We are so thankful for his tireless efforts to boost awareness of the condition and how serious it can be, if it goes unchecked or unmanaged. He’s scaled arenas, run marathons and now, even jumped out of a plane for us – we couldn’t ask for a more committed supporter! Thanks Joe from everyone at Diabetes UK.”
As well as winning I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and hosting The Price Is Right, Joe has appeared on stage in The Producers and Spamalot. He will also star in Christmas panto ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre.
