Our ambassador Phillip Schofield helps us explain diabetes in new videos

Long-standing Diabetes UK Ambassador and star of the small screen Phillip Schofield is lending his famous voice to a new series of films designed to teach the public about the basics of diabetes.

Phillip took time out of his busy filming schedule to record voiceovers for the series of three films which aim to help people newly-diagnosed with the condition, or those simply trying to understand more about diabetes and the impact is has on those living with it, learn the facts in a clear and simple way.

Phillip has been our ambassador since 2006 and has a personal connection to the condition, as both his mother and brother live with Type 1 diabetes. He said:

“It was a huge shock to my family when my mother and my brother were both diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes within about three or four months of each other.

I know from personal experience, then, that one of the most overwhelming things about a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes is the sheer volume of information you need to take on, so when Diabetes UK asked me to contribute to these new videos I was delighted to help.

Whether someone is living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or is simply trying to understand more about either condition, these videos are a really simple, straightforward and useful resource. They’re definitely essential viewing.”

Watching our new films on diabetes basics, Type 1 diabetes, and Type 2 diabetes can help you understand the condition in a more concise and simple way.
