Are you taking your tablets?

Research published in the journal Diabetic Medicine shows that many people may not be taking their diabetes medication as prescribed because they believe it could lead to weight gain and changes to their daily routine.

Through interviews and surveys, the researchers found that one in three people believe their diabetes tablets could cause unpleasant side effects.  "We know that up to half of people who control their diabetes with tablets, diet and exercise do not take their medication as prescribed," said Simon O’Neill, Director of Care and Policy at Diabetes UK.

He added: "If people think their medication is causing problems, they should make an appointment with their diabetes healthcare team."
