190 runners took part in the Flora London Marathon for Diabetes UK on Sunday 23 April and Gary led the way by finishing the course in under three and a half hours. Not only that, but he managed to complete all five marathons in under four hours each and has raised over £3,000 for Diabetes UK.
Gary said: "I have had the most amazing experience. I knew the challenge was possible, but I didn't think I'd finish in such good times."
"I really hope this shows people with diabetes that you don't have to let your condition hold you back."
Douglas Smallwood, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK, said: "Finishing one marathon is a tremendous achievement in itself, but finishing five is just astounding."
"Gary is a real inspiration for all people with diabetes."
"I'd like to congratulate everyone who took part on Sunday. The atmosphere was special and we really do appreciate the support that we get from the money raised. All money will go towards funding vital diabetes research and projects."
