Do you know what it’s like living with diabetes or caring for someone with diabetes?
Do you want to make your mark on Diabetes UK? Do you want to elect and hold to account the Trustees? Do you want to work alongside the charity’s leading supporters? Could you help to inspire and motivate our members?
If so, we need you on the UK Advisory Council (UKAC), the link between the members and the Trustees.
The UKAC consists of about 120 lay, healthcare professional and voluntary group members, elected from all four nations of the UK by the charity’s membership. The UKAC is consulted on a range of issues relevant to people living with diabetes.
Here are some comments from current members:
"The Council ensures that the charity is going in the right direction. We bring up the issues that really matter to people with diabetes and people caring for people with diabetes."Dinah Shortt, Voluntary Groups, Northern Ireland
"It has been a privilege to be able to re-pay some of the many years of sound advice and support that Diabetes UK has given me."Marian Shaw, Lay Member, England
"I have found it a huge learning experience, personally and professionally."Rosemary Walker, Healthcare Professional, England
