Alongside its recent review of diabetes services, the Healthcare Commission has produced a handy information pack aimed at people with diabetes and their carers.
The information pack details the type of care, advice and support that people with diabetes should expect to receive from their healthcare team.
It also contains an overview of the current level of care that people with diabetes receive and some advice on how to make sure that people’s healthcare needs are met by the NHS.
“As 95 per cent of diabetes management is self-care, it is essential that people with diabetes have access to as much information as possible on how to achieve good diabetes control," said Cathy Moulton, Care Advisor at Diabetes UK.
"This handy tool is also a good reminder of the type of help people are entitled to receive from healthcare professionals.”
The information is available from the Healthcare Commission in PDF format. Visit their website (right) to download a copy.
Diabetes UK also has information on the type of tests that people can expect during their annual review - see the related link on the right.
