Diabetes UK volunteers, campaigners and voluntary groups gathered at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza hotel last weekend to acknowledge the wonderful things they have achieved in the past year.
This year over 200 participants attended the annual event.
“The Volunteering 2007 Conference is a great way for delegates to be inspired by other volunteers and a perfect way for Diabetes UK to celebrate the invaluable volunteer support we receive,” said Verity Steddon, Volunteer Development Officer at Diabetes UK.
The two-day conference boasted a special family support group event, as well as a range of innovative speakers elaborating on everything from insulin pumps to the latest diabetes research.
Groups and individuals across the UK were nominated for their outstanding achievements, which highlighted some fantastic stories and exceptional candidates.
The Volunteer Achievement awards were presented at the gala dinner to the South Gloucester Voluntary group, the Leicester parents group, Sandra Parsons of North Staffordshire and Ben Carlisle of Glossop. Ben Carlisle also received the HG Wells Award.
