540 colleagues from Bank of Scotland Corporate raised almost £600,000 for Diabetes UK, CLIC Sargent and Age Concern when they undertook the Cairngorm Mountain Bike Challenge on Saturday 6 September.
Braving wet and windy conditions, the participants were taken off road through the picturesque highland scenery around Aviemore, having 12 hours to complete the challenge.
All along the route, they were cheered on by volunteers from the charities and by colleagues, ensuring that their spirits were kept high.
Double your money
The HBOS Foundation are match-funding every pound raised by the competitors in the Cairngorm Mountain Bike Challenge. The competitors have already collected well over £250,000, with the money still left to come in expected to push that figure nearer £300,000. The HBOS Foundation's match-funding will bring the total raised to almost £600,000.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all Bank of Scotland Corporate colleagues who took part in the Cairngorm Mountain Bike Challenge," said Ros Luckman, Head of Partnerships at Diabetes UK.
"Their fantastic fundraising efforts will go towards funding five educational vans to screen, inform and advise 1.5 million people about diabetes over two years. These vans will be able to reach all the corners of the UK, especially where the risk is highest and go directly to the people who need our help, whoever they are”.
