The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has published a new guideline for diabetes in pregnancy.
NICE clinical guideline 63 covers the care and treatment of pregnant women with diabetes in the NHS in England and Wales, and the care of their newborn babies. It is written for women who have diabetes or who develop gestational diabetes in pregnancy, and it may also be useful for their families or for anyone with an interest in the condition.
Some of the recommendations include preconception advice for adolescents, screening for women at risk of gestational diabetes and the induction of labour or caesarean section after the 38th week of pregnancy.
