Diabetes UK has launched a new website dedicated to young adults with diabetes.
Our new website can be found in the 'My life' section of the Diabetes UK site and is full of information on how to manage diabetes as a young adult, moving away from home and taking control of a new life.
The website covers subjects such as healthcare, work, study, travel, social life and much more. The information is tailored to meet the needs of young people, helping them take advantage of new opportunities without letting diabetes hold them back.
There is also an opportunity for young people to tell their own stories or even write a blog. We are keen for the site to be an online community where people can share and learn from each other's experiences.
If you are a young adult with diabetes and interested in writing about your experiences, visit the site and get in touch.
Help to manage diabetes
"At Diabetes UK we believe that young adults with diabetes need all the information they can get to help them manage their condition successfully," said Libby Dowling, Diabetes UK Care Advisor.
"This website is designed to provide them with factual information, support and contacts to help them on their way to confident self-management."
Support with new life experiences
Graeme Manuel, Website Manager at Diabetes UK, added: "We wanted to provide information and support for an age group we haven't always reached before, presenting it in a user friendly way."
"It's an age group where people regularly face changes, so we tailored the online information to the needs of people with diabetes who are embarking on new life experiences."
