Explore London's hidden past and support Diabetes UK

Sign up for the Historic Southwark and Bankside Guided Walk on 30 May 2009, and help raise funds for Diabetes UK.

Listen to the notorious Bankside stories, view Southwark Cathedral (pictured) with its Shakespearean connections, see reconstructions of Francis Drake's Golden Hinde and Shakespeare's Globe theatre. Literature, religion and the world's oldest profession all feature.

Where and when

On this leisurely walk, your guide will walk and talk you around the historic area of Southwalk and Bankside. The walk takes around two hours and covers between two and four miles.

The walk is led by Blue Badge Guide, Diane Burstein. The walk starts at 2.30pm; details of the meeting place will be sent out following registration.

How to take part

We ask that each of our walkers pays £6 to cover the cost of the guide.

Why not make your miles go further? Raise sponsorship money or make a donation to the Diabetes UK research fund.
