This year Diabetes Week takes place from 12 to 18 June, and celebrity supporter Joe Pasquale is calling on budding quizmasters across the UK to raise money for Diabetes UK by holding a Big Diabetes Week Quiz.
During Diabetes Week we are raising awareness of the importance of talking about diabetes, and are hoping to raise £200,000 to expand our Careline – a vital service which provides practical information and emotional support to anyone affected by diabetes.
Diabetes can be challenging
Joe Pasquale is supporting the Big Diabetes Week Quiz as his family has been closely affected by diabetes, and he is encouraging everyone across the UK to take part.
He said, "Learning to live with diabetes can be challenging, and it’s vital that people receive the emotional support they need to effectively manage their diabetes.
"That’s why during Diabetes Week 2011 Diabetes UK is raising awareness of the importance of talking about diabetes, and what better way to do this than by encouraging everyone across the UK to hold a Big Diabetes Week Quiz. It’s the perfect way to get all your friends, family, school friends and colleagues together to raise awareness of diabetes."
How you can help
Anyone with a brain bursting full of knowledge is being encouraged to help reach this target for the Diabetes UK Careline by holding a Big Diabetes Week Quiz, either in the run up to Diabetes Week or during the week itself. You can hold your quiz at your workplace, local school, pub, community centre or anywhere else you can think of. You can download quiz questions from the Diabetes Week question hub to help you build your quiz. Twenty rounds of questions on topics ranging from history to sport are available to download to mix and match to help you build your own quiz.
