Powered by Fitbit - an exciting new partnership
We’re delighted to announce a new three-year partnership with Fitbit, working together to help millions of people live healthier lives.
Preventing type 2 diabetes
We'll be focusing on prevention, helping more people understand what puts them at risk and what they can do about it. We believe that by working together we can prevent more people from being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Improving people’s health and wellbeing is at the very heart of our partnership.
Healthier, not just fitter
We share a simple ambition, to help everyone live healthier lives. By working together we'll help people lower their risk of health issues or even serious illness. This partnership is about helping to make everyone healthier, not just fitter.
There are 4.8 million people currently living with diabetes in the UK and 90% of these are living with type 2 diabetes. A further 12.3 million people are at increased risk of developing type 2, and it’s estimated that almost 950,000 people are living with undiagnosed diabetes. Someone is diagnosed with the condition every 2 minutes. So, diabetes management and prevention has never been as important as it is right now.
Our partnership will help people understand more about diabetes, with opportunities to manage their health or lower their risk of type 2 diabetes through our challenge events. With every step and every mile we will raise vital funds to stop diabetes in its tracks. Every penny raised goes towards researching better, life-changing treatments and providing support to the millions who need it right now.
By joining forces, Fitbit and Diabetes UK will show how working together can help people do more than they ever thought possible. We'll inspire meaningful changes to people's behaviour which improves their physical and mental health - for good.
