Track your steps this summer and walk towards a healthier you
Between now and 30 September put on your step tracker and push yourself out of your comfort zone. Walk over 10,000 steps every day for 3 months and get sponsored for every stride.
Walk it. Jog It. Dance it. The choice is yours. You will need to take at least 10,000 steps a day to reach your million, so get your activity watch on and get step tracking.
You can take on the challenge alone, or better still, get your family, friends and colleagues involved. You can even split the million steps between a team to make it easier.
However you take part, the money you raise is vital in our fight against diabetes.
- Free to register
- No minimum sponsorship requirement. We would suggest a target of £120, but please raise as much as you can for us.
- You must be aged 18 or over to register and receive an online activity tracker page. Children are welcome to join in with a parent or guardian but can’t formally register.
- You will need to source your own pedometer or step tracker. If you are a smartphone user there are many very good pedometer apps that are free to use.
How we'll support you
Before you get stepping, you’ll receive your welcome pack through the post. We’ll send them soon and they’ll include advice on increasing your steps, fundraising tips, a record card to log your steps and a sponsorship form.
You will also get your very own 1 Million Step tracker page which is an online page where you can log your steps and keep a running total, collect virtual badges, keep track of your fundraising and share your progress with everyone on Facebook and Twitter.
How do I count my steps?
Keeping on top of your steps using a pedometer app on your phone or an activity band is by far the easiest way to track your activity. If you need help finding the best free step counting app for you, get in touch with us at email@example.com.
If you would rather use a physical pedometer or activity tracker, we have some great options in our online shop.
Then, just keep a log of your daily steps on your 1 Million Steps record card or Tracker website.

At the moment it does too much. Each week thousands of people in the UK suffer heart attacks, heart failure, stroke, amputation and blindness because of their diabetes. But when people manage their diabetes well they can avoid these life-threatening complications and stay healthy.
We provide information, care and support for everyone with diabetes – and for their family and friends – so they can manage their condition well. Our campaigns improve life for people with diabetes while our research develops new treatments, technologies and will, one day, find a cure.
But we need your help to do it. That’s where you and your fundraising come in. It’s time to step up for people with diabetes.
