Nomination information and guidance
When can I nominate?
Nominations opened on Monday 20 January and will close at midnight on Friday 6 March 2020.
How do I nominate someone for an Inspire Award?
You can nominate using our online form on our nominations page.
What information do you need on the nomination form?
- Your details (name, email, phone, etc.)
- Details of the person you’re nominating (email address, and contact number)
- Plenty of information on how the person you are nominating fits our award criteria including their activities and the difference these have made to people living with diabetes.
- You'll find the awards criteria on the nominations page.
Who can nominate?
Anyone can nominate one of our volunteers for an Inspire Award. However we can’t accept self-nominations. You must be over 18 to nominate.
How do I know which awards to nominate a volunteer for?
The criteria for each award are available on the nominations page and on the nomination form.
Who will judge the awards?
Our nominations are checked and judged by a Diabetes UK judging panel in your area. The panels are made up of Diabetes UK staff, volunteers and external volunteering experts. The panel will remain fair and impartial throughout the judging process and all information will be sense checked internally.
The panels use the information you provide to judge the winner and many of the judges are unlikely to know the volunteer and their activities, so it’s important that you answer all questions in full and provide as much information as possible. This helps the judging panel to make an informed decision on the winner based on their activities.
What if I can’t fill in the form online?
Please contact volunteering@diabetes.org.uk to request a paper version.
What time period do the awards cover?
These awards cover activities that have happened in 2019 unless you’re nominating someone for a long service award.
What are the terms and conditions for the Inspire Awards?
For full terms and conditions, please go to the terms and conditions page.
