During this period of social distancing and isolation, it’s very important that we look after both our physical and mental health as best we can. 

We are introducing mindfulness and yoga via online video link this month.

These twice-weekly sessions will be run by Zen yoga and mindfulness teacher Donna Booth of Vitality Retreat, based in the far north of Scotland.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our nominees. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do and we simply could not continue our work without your dedication and support.

Over 300,000 Scots living with type 2 diabetes, including those yet to be diagnosed. People with type 2 diabetes 50% more likely to die prematurely.

New analysis released today by Diabetes Scotland shows that the number of people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Scotland has increased by 40%, from 190,772 to 267,615, between 2008 and 2018.

In addition there are an estimated 34,830 people living with type 2 diabetes who are yet to be diagnosed, bringing the total number up to 302,455.

This new year, Diabetes Scotland is calling for solutions to the gaps in mental health care for people living with diabetes with the publication of a new guide highlighting

The guide, ‘Emotional wellbeing and diabetes: A way forward’, details areas where mental health care is delivered successfully to people with diabetes.
