Catherine Washbrook-Davies

Community Dietetic Team Lead & All Wales Dietetic Lead for Diabetes, Cardiff

In her role as Clinical Champion, Catherine’s ambition is to influence how nutrition is understood within diabetes care. In doing so, Catherine will highlight the important role dietitians play in the prevention and remission of diabetes.

Background

Catherine Washbrook-Davies has 25 years' experience in supporting people to manage their health through diet and nutrition. Her current role as a community dietetic team lead sees her manage a team of dietitians, who deliver patient education in both diabetes and weight management. In their role, the team provide valuable support for people living with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or both. She has gained a great deal of understanding and empathy for people living with diabetes and the complexities of coping with the condition.

Catherine has recently completed an MSc in Advanced Practice from Cardiff University. This degree has given her further in-depth knowledge of the current evidence base around medical nutritional diabetes management.

Catherine has been All Wales dietetic lead for diabetes since January 2020. She leads the All Wales diabetes remission project, working with partners to develop a national programme. The aim is to improve patient access to a range of treatment options which best meet individual needs.
