GP and Clinical Lead for diabetes and long term conditions, West Norfolk CCG
As one of our Clinical Champions, Dr Hambling hopes to lead further developments in diabetes services, with the implementation of a fully integrated diabetes service across primary, community and secondary care.
She is driven to improve clinical standards as well as access for people living with diabetes, with one aim being to deliver diabetes care closer to home. She is particularly interested in addressing healthcare inequalities and to meet the needs of more vulnerable people, including older people and those living with mental health or learning difficulties.
Dr Hambling has worked as a general practitioner in West Norfolk for almost 20 years.
She has a long standing interest in diabetes and is Chair of the West Norfolk Diabetes Network. Dr Hambling is also Clinical Lead for Diabetes and Long-Term Conditions for her local CCG, which is leading on diabetes projects for the Norfolk and Waveney STP area. She has been heavily involved in local diabetes projects and successfully led the transformation funding bids for structured education and achieving treatment targets, which are now being implemented within her locality.
She was a member of the EAHSN Diabetes Projects Group, improving pre-pregnancy care for women with diabetes and working with the East of England ambulance service to improve the care of people suffering severe hypoglycaemia.
