Dr James Boyle

Consultant diabetologist, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, NHS GG&C

Dr James Boyle is a Consultant Physician and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Stobhill Hospital and University of Glasgow.

James completed an MD at the University of Glasgow in the Henry Wellcome Laboratory of Cell Biology examining the effect of metformin on vascular function and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in Type 2 Diabetes.

Diabetes UK awarded this work with the Type 2 Diabetes Research Award. He was recently awarded a NRS Career Research Fellowship by the Chief Scientist Office and an Innovators in Diabetes (IDia) Research Fellowship by Diabetes UK to continue his interest in translational diabetes research.  James has a longstanding interest in medical education. He has completed a Masters in the field and is currently Head of Year 3 at Undergraduate Medical School, University of Glasgow.

James's vision is to improve the diabetes care in his locality by:

  1.
