Dr Jason Cheung

Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology and Clinical Lead for inpatient diabetes service, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

As one of our Clinical Champions, Dr Jason Cheung aims to modernise inpatients diabetes care infrastructure in his trust. He would like to create an environment and culture where people living with diabetes feel safe and reassured. As well as hospital staff feeling well equipped and proud of providing good care.

Jason hopes the Clinical Champions programme will give him the skills to lead the inpatient diabetes team through the current challenging times. As well as working to restore the progress they had achieved in protecting people living with diabetes, reducing glycaemia harms, and enhancing education.

Background

Jason is the inpatient diabetes service clinical lead. In this role he aims to enhance and restructure care for people living with diabetes. Especially for the vulnerable at-risk patient groups.

He is currently a committee member of Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care and a regular member of East of England Inpatient Diabetes Care Group. His past and present contributions to these organisations have helped him to set a good standard of inpatient diabetes care and to promote good quality specialty training in diabetes care.

Jason developed type 2 diabetes in his late 30’s. As a result his commitment to good quality care for people living with diabetes is a personal matter close to his heart.
