Consultant in diabetes and endocrinology, Central Middlesex Hospital
Dr Koteshwara Muralidhara works as a consultant physician in endocrinology & diabetes at Central Middlesex Hospital, London.
He was appointed as a consultant in 2011 in Birmingham. He moved to his current job at Central Middlesex Hospital in 2014. Dr Murali provides clinical leadership to the Brent Integrated Diabetes Service (BIDS). In the last 3 years, BIDS team has worked with GPs, public health and patients in introducing innovative services to deliver high quality integrated care and structured diabetes education (DESMOND) in Brent. These efforts found recognition in the London Northwest Healthcare NHS Trust Pride of Staff awards twice (2016 and 2017) and commendation in the DESMOND annual awards 2016.
He is a co-chair of the Diabetes Strategy Action Group in Brent and is actively involved in diabetes service transformation projects in North West London. His areas of interest are integrated diabetes care, diabetes commissioning models and transition diabetes care.
As part of the Clinical Champions programme, Dr Murali is keen to improve the diabetes care for adolescents and young adults, especially their adherence to care processes and improvements in treatment targets. He hopes to develop targeted pathways through IT based active registers for this age group, who according to the National Diabetes Audit data are much below the national average in adherence to care processes and outcomes.
