Diabetes Specialist Pharmacist, Western Health and Social Care Trust
In her role as a Clinical Champion, Laura hopes to develop strong relationships with other Northern Ireland trusts. With the aim to develop shared resources, such as inpatient glucose monitoring charts with enhanced safety features, and to deploy these throughout Northern Ireland.
Laura qualified as a pharmacist in 2005 and has been working as a hospital pharmacist ever since. She has a wide and varied experience in a range of specialisms, but has developed a passion for diabetes. With services across the country overwhelmed by increasing workload and complexity, Laura can see the huge potential benefits that could be brought through collaboration. She is keen to use her work to reduce the harm from medication incidents by improving safety and awareness.
With three young children, she doesn’t have a lot of free time, but likes to use her time creatively, enjoying baking, crochet, and more recently sewing face masks.
