As one of our Clinical Champions, Dr Narasimha will be utilising his passion for patient empowerment and optimising digital technology in diabetes care to enable service change.
One such attempt is the pursual of cross-sector collaborative development of a digital smartphone based diabetic foot photography app, involving stakeholders from NHS, academia & industrial partners with patient public involvement to guide design.
Dr Narasimha is a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust leading on specialist diabetes services locally. He is the Clinical Lead for the multidisciplinary foot team and diabetes in pregnancy services at UHCW. Dr Narasimha is the Royal College Physician Tutor for the Trust and leads on the Internal Medicine Education programme, mentoring the trainees and organising teaching sessions for all the IM trainees.
Dr Narasimha is co-chair for the Diabetes Foot Care Network in West Midlands, which is part of the cardiovascular network. This leadership role in the West Midlands has enabled him to address inequalities in diabetes services across the region by implementing peer reviews and encouraging critical reviews of current pathways.
Dr Narasimha has personal experience of living with diabetes. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 18 years ago and fully understands the challenges of living with a long term condition and how trivial changes and events in life may impact diabetes control.
