Diabetes Service Manager & Clinical Lead, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
In her role as Clinical Champion, Sarah hopes to develop the local diabetes service. Moving it away from a medical model of care towards one that focuses on all aspects of diabetes care, including psychological and social elements. She hopes to create a service where people living with diabetes are seen by the most appropriate health care professional.
Following an interest in diabetes as a Practice Nurse, Sarah became a diabetes nurse 18 years ago working within the private sector as well as primary and secondary care. Sarah currently leads the community service both operationally and clinically across Staffordshire. The service provides multi-disciplinary clinics for people living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The service also provides face to face & virtual clinics within GP surgeries to enable up-skilling and partnership working for GP’s, Practice Nurses and Community Nurses.
As well as managing the service and staff Sarah supports pump clinics and has a special interest in type 1 diabetes and the increasing use of technology and is passionate about delivering professional education.
