GP and Newham CCG GP Diabetes Clinical Lead, Newham CCG
In her role as Clinical Champion, Tamara would like to assess the place of low-calorie diets within her local system as part of a wider intervention into lifestyle and behavioural change. She is keen to develop and promote culturally appropriate messaging around healthier eating and physical activity to aid those living with diabetes with self-management and self-care. She has recently been appointed WEL CCGs low-calorie diet clinical lead and is looking forward to assessing how this national pilot could be integrated into the suite of interventions offered within the system.
Tamara has been a GP for 13 years, with a specialist interest in diabetes care for eight, and has had the privilege of being the GP clinical lead for diabetes in Newham. Tamara has an interest in gestational diabetes and has played a key role in the development of a local at-risk register which is being used to improve engagement in post-natal follow up. This register ensures woman are invited for an annual review and encourages referral into the National Diabetes Prevention Programme as well as our local lifestyle and physical activity invention programmes.
Tamara enjoys trying new gadgets and loves anything that helps her be more efficient with her time especially as a mum of 2 children.
