Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
As one of our Clinical Champions, Vinay hopes to make a meaningful difference in the care for people living with diabetes by enhancing the services for both outpatient and inpatient care. Vinay is planning to develop paperless out-patient diabetes clinics by using electronic systems to capture information to create an electronic database. This database will enable the transformation of care by recognising and stratifying at risk groups, prudent care planning, setting up virtual clinics and for research.
Vinay also plans to develop and implement a digital platform for diabetes management in secondary care to capture information at every point in care, enhance communication with primary care and harness the data for improving patient experience.
Vinay completed his medical training at Wales Deanery, Cardiff University, and currently works as a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University Hospital of Wales. He has an interest in medical education and is the course director for diabetes Diploma and MSc at the South Wales University.
As part of his role Vinay has been working with the Clinical Transformation Board on an innovative project called Health Pathways which will establish a single repository of all medical conditions to help primary care providers identify the best treatments. Vinay has an interest in digital transformation in health care to improve patient experience, reduce variation and achieve high standards of care.
