Central London Community Healthcare Trust (CLCH) provides health services across four London Boroughs: Barnet, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster. Diabetes UK worked with CLCH as they look to improve the initial take-up and retention on their structured education programme X-PERT.
Improving take up and rentention on diabetes courses
In June and September 2013 we hosted three focus groups in the area to ask people with diabetes what would encourage them to attend a structured education course, including the content they would like to cover, and the times and venues they would want to attend. We also undertook 30 telephone interviews with local diabetes patients to ensure a broad range of views were captured. Participants in the focus groups and interviews were patients that had been referred to the X-PERT programme but hadn’t attended a session. The work undertaken will provide people with diabetes an opportunity to influence Central London Community Healthcare Trust’s decisions on how diabetes education will be delivered in the future.
