In 2019 we launched a ChangeLab in the North West
In October 2019, we completed our Emotional Wellbeing ChangeLab in Liverpool. We brought together over forty individuals from a mix of backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, quality improvement professionals, service commissioners, and people with lived experience of diabetes, to work on the collective challenge: How can we make emotional wellbeing a routine and integral part of diabetes care?
The lab was a six-month process of continuous experimentation, testing and learning. Over the course of four workshops, lab teams worked together to uncover the root causes of what's getting in the way of improvement, 'prototype' a range of promising solutions and test these prototypes in the 'lab' of the real world.
A few of the promising ideas and prototypes that have stemmed from the lab include: empathy skills training sessions for healthcare professionalsĀ that are led by people with diabetes, an emotional health and wellbeing pledge document for healthcare professionals, and a health walk group for people living with diabetes.
Whilst this lab has now finished, one pager summaries of all of the prototypes generated in the North West ChangeLab will be published in the coming months.Ā
