Did you know that the Diabetes UK Northern Ireland team offers diabetes support and information to local communities through their Live Well Hub offering?
Located in Belfast, Bangor and Ballymena, the Hubs provide a one-stop-shop for diabetes related information, advice and support from both local healthcare professionals and members of the Northern Ireland team.
Across Northern Ireland there are nearly 112,000 people living with diabetes, with a further 66,000 people considered to have prediabetes. The launch of the new Live Well Hub in North Belfast last September is another exciting step within a five-year project for the team where they will continue to grow this type of support for people across the region.
Commenting on the Live Well Hubs, Diabetes UK Northern Ireland National Director, Tina McCrossan, said, "In addition to facilitating a greater understanding of diabetes and fostering relationships between the diabetes communities and their healthcare providers, the Live Well Hubs provide people with an outlet to connect with peers and share their experiences. They also help shine a vital light on diabetes and how members can learn more about living well with the condition.
"Our Live Well Hubs already in place in both Ballymena and Bangor have been really well received by members of the local community and we look forward to seeing this engagement develop with residents within North Belfast. We have released our series of new dates for each location over the coming months – we really look forward to welcoming new and existing members to the Hubs to provide further resources and information to support their diabetes management."
