Guide to campaigning

With a general election coming up, we need to show MP candidates why they must champion diabetes care, support and prevention if they are elected. During the campaigning period, you will likely see local candidates and their teams out and about in your area, knocking on doors, attending and hosting events.

We’ve put together some questions you can ask candidates or their teams to make sure diabetes care is on their agenda:

Diabetes care

  • What will you do to make sure everyone can get the care and support they need to live well with diabetes?

Preventing type 2 diabetes

  • What will you do to make sure we have access to healthy, affordable food, and green spaces to get outside, and reduce future harm from diabetes?

Diabetes tech

  • How will you make sure everyone can get the life-changing diabetes tech (like continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps and hybrid closed loop) they’re eligible for?

Health inequality

  • What will you do to tackle health inequality, so everyone with or at risk of diabetes can lead a long and healthy life, regardless of their ethnicity, income, or where they live?

Working with Diabetes UK

  • Will you work with Diabetes UK to make sure everyone living with or at risk of diabetes can look forward to a longer, healthier life?
