We need some heroes to fundraise at school

We've been waiting for you. Yes, you.

1 in 15 people have diabetes in the UK. It's complicated, confusing and tough to live with. That's why we're here, to help children and adults live healthy lives with diabetes.

And that's why we need you. A fundraising adventurer. Someone that inspires their school to learn about diabetes, to be creative and to raise precious pennies and pounds.

We know a hero when we see one.

Exploring fundraising

Listen closely and you'll be a fundraising expert in no time.

Set a meeting point for you and your fellow explorers and give yourselves amusing code names, it could come in handy on your adventures.

When together, map out what you love to do and remember all ideas are welcome. It can be anything you enjoy and the more you use your imagination the better.

Then apply a fundraising technique:

  • ask for a donation to join in
  • ask for sponsorship
  • sell tickets to events
  • auction your artistic creations
  • sell food, drink or second hand goods

Below you'll see some of the ways we've explored fundraising before, take a look.

Club mentality

Start a gardening club to nurture Mother Nature, share terrific tales with book club or start a rock choir.

Got something in mind? Excellent. Now think about how you can learn about diabetes and be creative as a school too. Like holding an assembly and making your own costumes.

We also recommend setting yourselves a fundraising target. It gives you direction like an X on a treasure map.

Believe in yourselves. We do.

Boost your fundraising

You're nearly ready to set sail. All that's left is this final checklist. Give it the once over along with your backpack before you go.

  • Include everyone you can. The more adventurers, teachers and parents who take part the more you'll raise.

  • Your local community can help by donating raffle prizes, treats for your adventures, lending handy equipment or helping on the day.

  • Does your school have a charity of the year? Could it be us? Please.

  • Ask parents if their workplaces offer match funding for any fundraising.

  • Using JustGiving is a great way to collect donations and share your terrific tales.

  • With certain donations you can add 25p for every £1 you raise with Gift Aid. It's like a pat on the back for your fundraising.

You may have questions during your fundraising adventures. Consider us your guide.
