Volunteers are at the heart of our charity, and as a healthcare professional, there are many ways you can get involved our work.
As well as providing crucial support for people living with diabetes, volunteering with us can provide an invaluable insight into the lives of your patients.
The Council of Healthcare Professionals
The Council of Healthcare Professionals (CHP) is a multidisciplinary advisory body whose members inform our work and provide us with feedback on whether we are meeting the needs of healthcare professionals and people with diabetes.
To register your interest in joining the Council, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would any further information, please call 0345 123 2399.
Type 1 Events
Our Type 1 Events give children, young people and families affected by Type 1 diabetes, time and space to gain confidence, share experiences and realise they’re not alone.
Volunteering for these events allow you to enhance your professional practice of Type 1 diabetes management. You'll get to see how your advice has a life-long impact, ensuring everyone leaves an Event feeling more confident about living with and managing Type 1 diabetes.
Our regional offices are involved in various activities for both healthcare professionals directly and for people with diabetes that rely on the valued support of healthcare professional volunteers.
For example, support might include helping at diabetes awareness days and fundraising events. There are also opportunities to give talks at Diabetes UK group meetings or other community groups.
You can get involved in running workshops at local or regional healthcare professional training events and much more.
In addition, you are welcome to participate in the variety of fundraising and sponsorship activities.
If you would like to get involved locally, please contact your regional office, who will be very pleased to hear from you.
