Dealing with diabetes can be daunting. On this page you can find out the various ways we support people with diabetes and find out what services are most suitable to their needs.

    This has lots of useful resources to help support and inform best diabetes care in school, for schools and parents.

    Videos for and by teenagers about all sorts of stuff – from awkward chats about sex, to tips on dealing with over-caring parents, to rants about how badly they deal with Type 1 on TV.

Resources for patients

PIPs are available to Clinical Commissioning Groups to buy and distribute to their patients. A PIP is aimed at newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes, but may also be of benefit to some people already living with type 2 diabetes. PIPs provide important information to help people confidently self-manage their diabetes and signpost readers to key local NHS or community services, as well as the Diabetes UK Learning Zone and Helpline.

    The Diabetes UK Advocacy service is here for all people with diabetes, their family, friends and carers to help with issues connected to diabetes.

Events

  • Type 1 Events

    Diabetes UK provides people living with diabetes unique opportunities to share and learn from each other in a relaxed and safe environment. The Care Events run throughout the year, all across the UK and are aimed at children, young people, adults and families living with diabetes.

  • Diabetes UK Helpline

    The Diabetes UK Helpline is a dedicated diabetes helpline for all people with diabetes, their friends, family, carers and healthcare professionals.
  • Local Groups

    Local diabetes support groups offer people living with diabetes a chance to share experiences, while providing essential guidance on all aspects of diabetes.
  • Diabetes UK Support Forum

    An online community where patients can exchange knowledge and experience with other people with diabetes, family and carers. The site is completely free, and simple to use.
  • Type 2 Together

    A way for your patients to connect with other people near them who have diabetes in a relaxed and informal session led by trained volunteers who are sharing experiences, supporting each other and making new friends.
